President Droupadi Murmu inaugurates Integrated Cryogenic Engines Manufacturing Facility of HAL in Bengaluru

President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the Integrated Cryogenic Engine manufacturing facility of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and virtually laid the foundation stone of South Zone Institute of Virology in Bengaluru today. Speaking on the occasion, the President said India is the sixth nation in the world with the capability of manufacturing cryogenic engines within the country. The cryogenic engine is utilised by the ISRO in its satellite launch vehicles.  

The President hailed the role of the ISRO and the HAL in making India Atma Nirbhar. She called upon the scientific fraternity to utilise Amrit Kaal  to make India a developed nation by 2047, when the country celebrates its cenetnary of the Independence. She said former President late A.P.J. Abdul Kalam showed the nation a way to be self-reliant by developing coronary stents within the country. Similarly, efforts were made to develop indigenous vaccines for the coronavirus, and the biggest vaccination programme was launched.

The President said Research and Development (R&D) efforts as such must continue under the programme today. Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Union Minister for State for Family Health Welfare Dr. Bharati Praveen Pawar and Karnataka Health Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar were present on the occasion.
