Eleventh felicitation ceremony and international seminar on Adi Guru Shankaracharya, Sufis and saints of Kashmir, their contribution and influence in regional spiritual literature and also historical and cultural significance of Sarvagya Sharda Peeth in association with Hindi Kashmiri Sangam was held on Friday at SKAUST-K.
The program started with the lightening of lamp by Shankaryacharya Amritanand Devtheerath ji Maharaj and Chief justice Pankaj Mithal ji.
At the auspicious event Shankaracharya did mangal aarti and also chanted mantras for propitiation of Sharda Devi. Shankaryacharya ji also enlightened the dignitaries present at the event about the history and shared the legend of samudra manthan related to Sharada Peeth and also highlighted its ethical importance.
The program was felicitated by Dr. Raja Langer, Director/Administrator Sarvagya Sharda Peeth trust. He spoke about Adi Guru Shankaryacharya’s visit to the holy Sharada Peetham, his philosophy and also spoke about the significance of Adi Shankaracharya’s teachings along with the life and philosophies of other Sufis and Saints of Kashmir.

During the inaugural function prominent personalities viz, Acharya Raghunath Dass Vedanti ji from Ayodhya, Prof Vishwamurthy Shastri Padamsfigures, Vice-Chancellor SKUAST Jammu Prof. J.P Sharma, Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Kashmir Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai. Chairman Hindi Kashmiri Sangam Bina Bhudki Guinness world record holder and Onkar Nath Shastri ji were present.
Prof. Nazir Ganai Vice-Chacellor, SKUAST-Kashmir was delighted to be the host for such a conference and thanked Swami Amritanand Tirth Maharaj ji for his efforts in organizing such a high level conference at this Institution, besides he spoke illustriously about Sufism and cultural heritage of Kashmir, whereas Vishwamurthy shastri ji gave pravachan on hindu philosophy and also felicitated Shankaracharya on behalf of Jammu & Kashmir Vidyut parishad, Prof. J. P Sharma ji gave some insights into what should be the ways of life, so that the only purpose of human life i.e. attainment of the highest truth is achieved.
Chief justice Pankaj Mithal felicitated the work of Shankaryacharya Shardapeeth Swami Amritananda Dev Teerth Ji and gave an insight about Kashmir rich heritage culture and it’s association with Kashmir saints and sufism.
