Union Minister for Mines Pralhad Joshi highlights govt’s efforts to lay foundation for Self-Reliant Aatmanirbhar Metal and Mining industry
Union Minister for Mines Pralhad Joshi today said that in the last eight years, government has laid the foundation for an Self-Reliant Aatmanirbhar Metal and Mining industry. He said, several initiatives have been taken in consultation with Industry to boost the Ease of Doing Business in the sector.
He was speaking after inaugurating International Conference on Indian Minerals and Metals Industry: Transition towards 2030 and Vision 2047 in New Delhi today. He said, there is need to work out in a year-by-year plan for the next 25 years for the coal industry. Mr Joshi said, the government has full faith on the entrepreneurs and the industry. He also spoke about government initiatives in the mining sector and the need to move forward on Sustainable Mining.
The Minister said, the mineral and metal industry is contributing significantly towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat. In his address, Union Minister for Steel Jyotiraditya Scindia said, steel is the primary factor that results in economic growth, capital growth and infrastructural growth across the world today. He said, the government’s targeted policy and focus has been to turn India from just another player in the steel sector to becoming a force to reckon with.
The Minister stressed on the need for a reduction of import dependency both on finished products and raw materials. He said, while we look at branding through our companies, we must also look at branding the mother brand which is Made in India and that mother brand must be associated with the highest quality of the product.
